Commonly asked questions about engaging a solemnizer in Singapore
1. Are solemnizers important?
A licensed solemnizer is required to marry you and your partner of your choice. They will verify the necessary legal documents and ensure consent is met when signing the Certificate of Marriage.
2. When should you engage a solemnizer?
We recommend couples to engage their favorite solemnizer earlier to avoid any disappointment. A good gauge would be three months before your wedding.
3. Who to choose?
Ask yourself what’s your preference, a comedic one? Or someone who cuts to the chase? From there you will be able to make a better decision on who you would like to choose.
4. Do I need to meet my solemnizer?
You should meet up with your solemnizer in person to sign the Solemnizer Consent Form and go through the schedule of your wedding. You can also check the process with your solemnizer of choice so that you have a better idea and can prepare for it.
Do get the opportunity to get to know them to find out your solemnizer style! Take the opportunity to share your preference to align expectations.
5. What are the payments involved?
No fee is required, but a token of appreciation for their time and effort will be a good idea. Don’t be afraid to ask how much he/she usually receives from other weddings that they have solemnized.
6. Should I invite my solemnizer to the wedding banquet?
Most solemnizers usually leave after the ceremony and do not join the celebration after. It's not necessary, but do double-check if they expect to join in to avoid any misalignments in expectations on your actual wedding day
7. What should I do if my wedding solemnizer is ill on my actual day?
He or she will inform you and arrange his or her buddy solemnizer, or you can contact his/her buddy yourself. Do remember to ask for his/her buddy's contact when you meet up with your solemnizer.
